Hello Deer

It's been officially springtime for over a week now, so I figured I should draw something 'springy' to mark the occasion.

I drew the deer alone at first, but he seemed kind of vacant and boring, so I added a talking butterfly. 

Hello/Goodbye

Here's a quick bit of type. I admit the faces leave something to be desired, except for maybe the one with the mustache.

The concept behind it isn't particularly deep - on the other side of every hello, there is a goodbye!

 

Rats

Last week's hand-drawn type was fun, so I decided to play with it again... this one is loosely inspired by the Year of the Rat.

Originally it just said RAT, but I couldn't resist making his tail an S. I added a bunch of little rats so I could justify using the plural.

Try the Calamari

I had some dried squid this week for the first time since I was a kid. It smells a lot worse than I remember, but tastes just as good as it used to. It also inspired this little guy. He looks kind of serious, but he's actually really happy about being in my first post.

I wanted to incorporate some typography into this drawing as well, but I decided the word "calamari" flows a little nicer than "dried squid."
